The IHSA announcement on Monday, March 12, 2020, that all 2020 State Series post season tournaments were cancelled as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic brought disappointment to area teams headed to Carver Arena in Peoria for State Finals.  Roanoke-Benson (1A), Peoria Notre Dame (3A) and Peoria Manual (3A) will not be competing for a State championship.

It was also a disappointing season for the Mid-Illini conference with only two teams winning one game each in regionals.  Conference champion Washington beat East Peoria only to fall to regional champion Peoria Notre Dame in the Metamora regional.

Regional host Metamora beat Peoria High in round one and also lost to the Irish.  The Irish beat Geneseo and Peoria Manual beat Rock Island in the first round of the Peoria sectional and would have faced each other in the sectional championship on March 13th.

Pekin outscored the
Raiders 17 to 2 in the fourth and went on to win 40-28 in a Mid-Illini Conference game Saturday, February 22, 2020, in East Peoria.  The Dragons are holding down the second spot in the M-I at 10-3 and are 16-7 overall.

On Friday, February 21, 2020, the
Dragons  hosted the Metamora Redbirds at Hawkins Gym.
